
- Negociations have started with potential suppliers regarding the procurement of GÉANT, the multi-gigabits research network which will follow TEN-155.
- The QUANTUM project follows on from the successful TEN-34 project. The main objective of the QUANTUM project is the continuation of a stable IP network service but at access capacities up to 155 Mbps. In parallel with the IP service, the pan-European research network known as TEN-155, provides a managed bandwidth service to the participating national research networks and other specific groups of users. DANTE is Co-ordinating Partner in the QUANTUM Consortium.
- Between February 1997 and December 1998, TEN-34 provided the European academic and research community with a stable IP based pan-European network service.
- The aim of the Q-MED Project is to provide a connection from the national research networks of Israel and Cyprus to the pan-European research network, TEN-155. DANTE is Co-ordinating Partner in the Q-MED Consortium.
- The CAPE (Connecting Asia-Pacific and Europe) Study Report "Feasibility and Recommendations for Europe and Asia Pacific" was submitted to the EC in November 1998. CAPE is a study on the feasibility of a direct connection between the Europen and the Asia Pacific regional research network. The CAPE Consortium consists of DANTE and DFN (the German Research Network Organisation).
