Accessing Data via Web Service Interface

Perfmonit makes use of web services to provide network measurement data. It promotes the use of schemas currently being worked on within the Global Grid Forum (GGF) Networking Monitoring Working Group.

The pilot implementation of Perfmonit currently requires the usage of version 2004/09 of the schema  for requests. Measurement reports provided by the system will be adherent to version 2004/09 of the report schema.  The style of Web Services has to be ‘Document’ and the encoding used should be ‘literal’.

Currently, one-way delay measurements using RIPE TTM  boxes are provided from a few points within GÉANT and some NRENs. Future work involves providing Layer 3 available bandwidth measured by GÉANT routers.
