Network Operations Centre Manager
DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) plans, builds and operates advanced networks for research and education.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be involved with the creation and start up of a Network Operations Centre.
The Role
We are seeking a Network Operations Centre Manager who will be responsible for implementing the company’s requirement for a Network Operations Centre, creating a team oriented professional culture and establish processes and procedures that reflect our internal and customer needs in a changing environment. This is a key role and requires a motivated and professional individual with vision and organisation skills. The role requires a strong technical networking background coupled with good operational management experience.
We are looking for an intelligent professional, who is highly motivated and organised, and able to train and motivate staff.
Responsibilities include management and leadership of 2nd/3rd level NOC staff to monitor and resolve customer issues and accomplish objectives, accountability for all network operations issues and defining requirements for the network management systems and related tools. Ensuring that all documentation of systems/network, troubleshooting guides, policies and procedures are up to date and actively deploy the necessary processes.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, preferably in a scientific/technical subject, have proven competency in leadership and management skills and a good command of English. A good understanding of incident and problem management in a network operations environment is essential and an ITIL based framework is desirable. Previous experience and or training in major network vendors such as Cisco, HP Openview, Juniper, Nortel, Lucent, Alcatel etc is desirable.
The position is based in Cambridge and involves travel, mainly in Europe and occasionally worldwide.
