6LINK - An Overview

6LINK logo6LINK was a project that aimed to foster an improved understanding of the most important issues for IPv6 development and deployment. It had three objectives:

  • Consensus-building on the subject of IPv6 development and deployment

  • Dissemination of consensus agreements on subjects relating to IPv6 development and deployment

  • Exploitation of consensus agreements to support common trials and IPv6 standards development

6LINK provided the first and only forum for projects with an interest in IPv6 to formally collaborate and discuss important issues. It was also the first forum for the dissemination of commercial, academic and standards developments focused exclusively on IPv6 technologies.

The 6LINK project aimed to bring together representatives of other projects that have an interest in IPv6. Through a series of workshops, the project identified common issues and fostered a common view of IPv6 development and deployment in Europe and elsewhere. 6LINK promoted shared understanding amongst its participants and aimed to disseminate its work to as wide an audience as possible.

DANTE was a partner in the 6LINK project, which ended on 31 March 2005.
